EGW 1911 Short Trigger with Tank Treads
EGW redesigned the classic 1911 trigger to solve real problems shooters face. Instead of using an overtravel screw that can loosen and disable your pistol, this trigger eliminates the screw entirely. As a result, you gain long‑term reliability without constant adjustment or risk.
Many shooters mistakenly adjust overtravel screws to change trigger pull weight. However, on a 1911, that screw only limits trigger movement. Worse yet, when turned in too far, it blocks rearward travel and prevents the hammer from falling. In fact, it can actually increase trigger pull weight. By removing the screw altogether, EGW removes this failure point and keeps your trigger consistent shot after shot.
Proven Trigger Bow Design
To ensure proper fit and smooth movement, EGW uses trigger bows made on original Videki dies—the long‑standing industry standard. Because of this, the bow tracks cleanly in the frame and delivers reliable, predictable trigger feel.
Additionally, the trigger face features an almost flat profile with a very slight radius. This design places the center of your finger directly on the Tank Tread serrations. As a result, you get better feedback and improved control compared to curved triggers that contact your finger unevenly. Even when your finger lands slightly high or low during a rushed draw, the trigger still feels natural and comfortable.
Secure Construction That Stays Put
EGW doesn’t rely on a single attachment method. Instead, they stake the trigger bow and secure it with red Loctite. Therefore, even if one system were to fail, the other still holds the bow firmly in place. EGW tested this design aggressively by twisting the bow from straight up to straight down with pliers—and nothing moved. That kind of durability matters in hard‑use pistols.
Built for Proper Fit
Finally, the trigger shoe is intentionally taller. This extra height allows proper fitting even in frames that run slightly out of spec. Consequently, gunsmiths gain more material to work with, and shooters get a precise, clean fit.
