TJ’s 1911 Series 80 to 70 Conversion Shim (Frame Slot Filler©) eliminate the open frame gap left when a gunsmith removes the Colt Series ’80 firing pin block actuating levers. In many cases, gunsmiths remove the Series ’80 firing pin safety system to achieve a cleaner and lighter trigger pull. They also seek more consistent trigger performance. However, when the frame slot remains empty, the sear can shift laterally. As a result, trigger feel suffers. In some cases, the sear or trigger mechanism can bind or lock up.

To solve this issue, the conversion shim drops directly into the Series ’80 frame cutout. Once installed, it restores correct internal geometry. It also keeps the sear positively controlled. By filling the unused slot, the Frame Slot Filler© stops unwanted movement. At the same time, it supports smooth and reliable operation after Series ’80 component removal.
