External Hammer and Sear Pins
The TMC External Hammer and Sear pins allow you to easily see the interaction between the hammer and the sear outside of your frame. No more guessing what the hammer and sear contact area is inside your frame. Eliminates the need for repeated disassembly/reassembly to ‘blind test’ changes
With slight variations in every 1911 frame it is very unlikely that spacing between the hammer and sear pins on the jig will be the same as those in your frame. Using a hammer/sear jig like the one shown in Figure 1can result in a hammer and sear interaction and surface mating that looks great in the jig, but off when installed into your frame

The TMC External Hammer and Sear pins mount on the outside of a 1911 frame and allows the user to easily observe and adjust hammer and sear engagement without repeated disassembly/reassembly to ‘blind test’ changes. Figure 2 shows the setup on the frame. Once the pins are inserted into the frame, place the supplied o-rings on the other side of the frame, this will eliminate any movement of the pins while you are working on your hammer and sear.

Once the hammer and sear are installed on the pins, the fit between the sear and the hammer hook, can be inspected. Any cant due to the frame’s hammer and sear pin holes not being perpendicular to each other will also be transferred to the pins, so it is important to inspect the fit at both the bottom and the top of the hammer and sear. Figure 3 shows the area to inspect once the hammer and sear are installed on the pins.
