Gold Cup 1911 Trigger – A More Dependable Gold Cup Design

EGW redesigned the Gold Cup 1911 Trigger to solve a long-standing reliability issue. In many cases, traditional over-travel screws cause problems. Shooters often adjust these screws hoping to change trigger pull weight. However, the screw only limits travel. It never affects pull weight. When turned too far, it blocks rearward movement. As a result, the hammer fails to fall. In turn, the trigger may even feel heavier.

Because of these risks, EGW removes the over-travel screw completely. Instead, the trigger relies on correct geometry. Therefore, movement remains consistent. More importantly, the trigger cannot shut the pistol down during use.

Built Specifically for Single-Stack Pistols

This trigger fits single-stack 1911 pistols only. To ensure precision, EGW uses trigger bows produced from original Videki dies. Because these dies set the industry standard, fit stays consistent. Moreover, trigger travel feels smooth and controlled from start to finish.

The trigger face remains nearly flat. At the same time, a slight radius improves comfort. Additionally, centered serrations guide your finger naturally. As a result, you gain better feedback and control with every press.

Consistent Feel with Reinforced Construction

Even if your draw places your finger slightly high or low, the trigger still feels natural. Consequently, each pull remains predictable and repeatable.

To secure the bow, EGW uses a dual-retention method. First, they stake the bow. Then, they apply red Loctite. Because of this combination, the bow stays firmly locked in place. During testing, EGW twisted the bow from straight up to straight down. Even under that stress, nothing shifted at the stake point. Therefore, durability remains unquestionable.

Improved Fit Across More Frames

The trigger shoe stands slightly taller than standard. Because of this added height, gunsmiths gain extra fitting material. As a result, frames that sit slightly out of spec still accept the trigger correctly. In turn, this ensures a snug, reliable fit across more Colt-pattern 1911 frames.
