EGW machines this firing pin stop wider than standard dimensions. Because of the added width, the extractor stays firmly in place and cannot rotate or “clock” during operation. As a result, the pistol ejects brass more consistently and runs with greater reliability. In addition, EGW increases the thickness of the stop to remove side-to-side movement. This tighter fit further stabilizes the extractor under recoil.

To increase service life, EGW radiuses the internal corners. These radii reduce stress and help prevent cracking over time. At the rear, EGW machines a controlled .015-inch radius. This breaks the sharp edge while keeping a square profile that slows initial slide opening. Consequently, the slide cycles more smoothly and maintains proper timing.

EGW Rockwell tests this firing pin stop to 48 Rc. This hardness allows it to resist peening and deformation, even in high-round-count pistols. However, this part is not drop-in. EGW intentionally oversizes the firing pin stop so a gunsmith can fit it precisely. Proper fitting ensures you gain all the performance benefits this design offers.

This firing pin stop is designed for Series 80 pistols but will also function in Series 70 guns. In contrast, Series 70 firing pin stops will not work in Series 80 pistols. This version is cut for adjustable rear sights, making it an excellent choice for competition pistols and custom builds.
