Challis Blue Hex Drive Bushings make installing and removing full-size 1911 grip bushings quick and easy. Slip a bushing into a 7/32″ nut driver and turn it into place. The socket holds the bushing straight, so threads engage accurately. You never need to start the bushing by hand or switch tools mid-job.

Strong Hex Design

The hex head drives the bushing firmly without raising burrs or deforming the top. Unlike slotted bushings, it provides strength, precision, and clean installation. Proper torque secures the bushing under recoil.

Secure and Stable Grip

Apply the recommended torque—27 in-lbs for steel frames and 20 in-lbs for aluminum frames—and the bushing stays stable during firing. This stability is critical for heavy grips like G10, aluminum, and other dense materials. Oversize and full-size grips work perfectly.

Optional O-Rings for Maximum Security

You can install these bushings without O-rings, but we strongly recommend them. O-rings keep grip screws tight, prevent scuffed frames, and provide the most secure grip mounting available. You will notice the difference in feel and stability.

Easy Removal and Reuse

Remove the bushing with a 7/32″ nut driver or socket. No special tools or easy-outs are necessary, and you avoid damaging the frame. If needed, remove the bushings for refinishing and reinstall them, saving money and preserving hardware.
